Artexte X Art+Feminism
Artexte will once again renew its commitment to the Art+Feminism mission on Saturday, December 11! Join us at Artexte, for another Wikipedia edit-a-thon aimed at representing the work of artists, authors, and cultural workers from underrepresented groups on Wikipedia, including women, Indigenous, Black and people of colour (BIPOC), as well as members of the LGBTQIA2+ communities.
For this edit-a-thon, we invite you to draw inspiration from Artexte’s current hybrid exhibition, Blackity, curated by Dr. Joana Joachim, which delineates the trajectory of contemporary Black Canadian art through the traces left by these same artists, curators, and professionals within Artexte’s vast collection.
To celebrate the return of a community-based event within our spaces, DJ Glowzi will contribute to our momentum with her editing-friendly sonic explorations during the edit-a-thon! Not able to be with us at Artexte? No problem! Join us virtually and live on Montez Press Radio (NY)for a rhythmic hour punctuated by occasional interventions to make you feel like you were there (time to be confirmed, in English only)!
Whether you’re a Wikipedia buff or neophyte, you’re invited to contribute to the writing of a text in this edit-a-thon, which constitutes a great international effort to correct persistent biases of inequality and underrepresentation in this free encyclopedia with respect to female, BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ artists.
