As the largest general reference work on the internet, Wikipedia is hugely popular. But did you know that less than 10% of the editors on Wikipedia are women, and only 18.93% of Wikipedia biographies are about women? When it comes to women artists and creators, that number is even lower.

The Women’s Art Register works to improve coverage about women artists both online and with our Archive of National Significance in Melbourne, Australia. Join us as we partner once again with Wikimedia Australia, and become part of the Wikipedia community of volunteers who collaboratively create and maintain one of the world’s largest and most popular research tools.

Join us for an ONLINE session on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, to amplify the voices of Australian women artists, designers and creators. This session will highlight Australian art galleries and museums and their collections of women artists.

Facilitators will be on hand for both experienced and new Wikipedia editors. No experience is required though basic computer skills are recommended. Hosted by the Women’s Art Register and Wikimedia Australia, and supported by the Wikimedia Foundation. Participation is FREE.
