Art+Feminism Event Types
Edit-a-thon
Edit-a-thons are events where Wikipedians of all skill levels gather to edit. Any event that involves editing, including competitions can be listed on our calendar as an edit-a-thon. Edit-a-thons can last a few hours, an entire day, or longer. They can be focused on a theme or be broad in scope.
Steps for hosting an A+F edit-a-thon
- Create a dashboard
- Submit event info to A+F website
- Apply for funding through A+F or through WMF Rapid Grants (optional)
- Submit post-event feedback form to Art+Feminism (and WMF, if applicable).
Panel or Conversation
An event featuring invited guests discussing a topic related to feminism, gender, or the arts. For example: https://library.osu.edu/events/on-artfeminism-talks-from-carmen-winant-and-dr.-guisela-latorre-virtual-event

- After the event, report back with form: The report should include a description of what took place at the event, attendance, a link to recording (if available), and any highlights or reflections from facilitators and attendees.
Meetup
An informal gathering of Wikipedians. Meetups do not need to involve editing but they should be structured. Meetups can include happy hours, film screenings, facilitated discussions, reading together, or other activities. They can be organized by geography (e.g., feminist wikipedians in MENA) or by shared interests (e.g., wikipedians researching reproductive justice). Meetups provide an opportunity for a non-hierarchical exchange of information and can be an opportunity for Wikipedians to gather around shared interests.
Criteria for hosting an Art+Feminism meetup
- The meetup must be facilitated. A facilitator is someone who guides the experience for attendees.
- The meetup must have a theme or focus related to feminism, gender, or the arts.
- The meetup does not need to be led by a wikipedian, but should have some commitment to information activism (i.e, the meetup should align with the mission of sharing or making information widely and freely available to the general public).
