VISIBLE @MSU.hr is the first in the series of activities we start as A+F themed activities in/with art institutions/organizations/groups in Croatia focusing on Art&Culture that is part of feminist, queer, de-colonial and other progressive Wikimedia work.
Activity will be done as a part of the big ‘encyclopedic-like’ exhibition The Visible Ones (Croatian: VIDLJIVE) at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. It will feature around 100 female artists from collections of major national institutions that exhibit contemporary art – in an effort to show a wide overview of work.
This will be the first major effort in institutional collaboration, done in collaboration with main curator Martina Munivrana and program curator Ana Škegro. Facilitator will be Wikimedian-in-Residence and A+F contributor Z. Blace. Participants will include local professionals, enthusiasts, students and members of two local Wikimedian initiatives HrW and GLAM (there is no local affiliate), with the support of regional Wikimedia CEE Hub and international Art+Feminism campaign.
Current MeetUp plan includes: Meeting at the opening and the follow-up day for informing and inspiring work to document exhibition and program, by mediating it to different Wikimedia sister projects and start experimenting on the ways of doing practical collaboration workflows that could be used in the future by Museums, Wikimedians, art professionals and enthusiasts.
We are going to follow COVID measures of the host institution MSU.hr. Museum offers free masks and has freely accessible liquid disinfection dispensers. It is largest and newest museum in Croatia, with excellent ventilation and high air volume spaces. Depending on the needs of participants we have options to move in different spaces in the Museum, including rooftop and entrance terraces and have outdoor experience.
